NOHA Officiating Development Weekend Recap
The NOHA Officiating Program proudly hosted our Officiating Development Camp during the Annual NOHA Development Weekend, August 9-11, in North Bay.
Sixteen Officials from Northern Ontario seized a unique learning opportunity at our Officiating Development Camp. They engaged in classroom sessions, officiated U14 and U15 games, and participated in on-ice sessions. The instruction was led by NOHA Director of Officials Glen Campbell and NOHA Officiating Program Coordinator Grant Love, with NHL Senior Vice-President and Director of Officiating Stephen Walkom providing on-ice drills. Mr. Walkom also shared insights on serving the game with integrity, professionalism, dedication, enthusiasm, and giving back to the game. Coach Mike McParland offered a valuable coach's perspective on referee and coach interaction.
During the games, the Officials were not alone. They received invaluable support from OHF Officiating Coordinator Adam Morell, NOHA District 3 Referee-in-Chief Scott Raycroft, District 4 -Referee-in-Chief Eric Ouellette, District 6 Referee-in-Chief Justin Punchard, and District 2/8 Senior Official Matt Davie. These experienced individuals provided tips and guidance, fostering a sense of community and teamwork among the Officials.
NOHA President Brian Beaupre supported the Officials and the NOHA Officiating Program by interacting and giving pointers during the weekend.
It was a phenomenal weekend, and we thank our participants, speakers, and volunteers!
