NOHA Officiating Development Weekend Highlights
The NOHA Officiating Program was proud to host our Officiating Development Camp and Officiating Coach Mentorship Weekend in conjunction with the Annual NOHA Development Weekend, August 11-13 in North Bay.
Seven Officials from across Northern Ontario gathered to learn in classroom sessions, officiate U14 games, and participate in in on-ice sessions. NOHA Director of Officials Glen Campbell, Senior Official Bruce Marietti, and NOHA District 4 Referee-in-Chief Eric Ouellette led the classroom instruction while OHL Officiating Manager Ken Cox took them through the paces while on the ice. They learned about professionalism, dedication, enthusiasm, and giving back to the game.
Current NHL Senior Vice-President and Director of Officiating Stephen Walkom made a surprise guest appearance and spoke to the Officials about serving the game and their integrity within.
In an effort to increase supervision within the NOHA, we also held an Officiating Coach Mentorship Weekend where 14 officiating coaches from various centres across the NOHA participated. NOJHL Director of Officials and NOHA District 5 Referee-in-Chief Stacy Jackson and OHL Officiating Manager Ken Cox provided valuable feedback to the participants who also had the opportunity to hear from former NHL Referee-in-Chief Bryan Lewis.
It was a phenomenal weekend, and we thank our participants, speakers, and volunteers!
