NOHA Development Weekend Player Highlights
This past weekend, the NOHA hosted our annual U14 Development camp alongside the OHF U15 Program of Excellence at North Bay Memorial Gardens.
The weekend saw approximately 150 players put to the test by elite Major Junior, U Sports, and Hockey Canada skills Coaches on the ice. Players were also busy off the ice partaking in high-level strength and conditioning, nutrition, and introduction to weightlifting sessions.
Every geographical district within the NOHA had players participating, with the vast majority of players from the AAA and AA levels.
“It was awesome seeing the wheels in motion this weekend watching the players, as well as our volunteers, enjoy themselves and develop their skills in hockey. The NOHA is thankful to the City of North Bay for having the ice in and in top shape to withstand the volume of hockey played throughout the weekend, and the Nipissing Lakers Men’s Hockey Program for allowing us to utilize their coaching. We would also like to thank the North Bay Battalion Coaching and Strength and Conditioning Staff for being involved on and off the ice throughout the weekend as well as the Battalion Food and Beverage team, who did an excellent job feeding up to two hundred people per meal,” – says NOHA Technical Director Jacob Brown.
Events such as Development Weekend do not happen without dedicated volunteers, says Brown: “Our volunteers are the most important part of an event like this to be successful, with so many moving parts under one roof, on and off-ice volunteers are critical, and we are extremely lucky that we have some of the best.”
