Team NOHA names 2020 OHL Cup Team Staff

NORTH BAY, ON – February 21, 2020 – The Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) and the Great North Midget League (GNML) are proud to announce the Team NOHA Staff for the 2020 OHL Cup.

Head Coach - Brandon Perry, Timmins

Assistant Coach - Alain Goulet, Azilda

Assistant Coach - Anthony Miller, Sault Ste. Marie

Trainer - David Losier, Kapuskasing

Trainer - Chris Seguin, Val Caron

Director of Operations - Andrew Corradini, North Bay

Brandon Perry currently serves as the Head Coach of the Timmins Majors Under-18 AAA of the GNML. He has held this role for three seasons. His leadership while at the helm of the Majors has led to many player advancements to higher levels of hockey and he was named the GNML Coach of the Year in 2017-18. His playing experience includes a half season with the Timmins Majors, and four years of Junior-A with the Kingston Voyageurs, where he served as an Assistant Captain (2006-07), and Captain (2007-08). Additionally, he was drafted by the Sarnia Sting in the 2005 OHL Priority Selection. After his Junior career, he played four years of U-Sports Hockey with the Queen’s University Golden Gaels, yet again serving as an Assistant Captain (2012-13). He rounded out his playing career with the Huntsville Havoc of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). Perry played his minor hockey through the Timmins MHA and Porcupine MHA.

Alain Goulet returns for his second stint with Team NOHA. Previously, Goulet served as a Skills Instructor with the RHP Training Centre in Sudbury. He is a trained NOHA NCCP Instructional Stream Instructor, focusing on Skills, Skating, Small Area Games, and Developing Defensemen. Goulet enjoyed a long hockey career, playing for his hometown Kapuskasing Flyers in the GNML. He played Junior-A for the Ottawa Jr. Senators and the Aurora Tigers before being drafted in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins (Sixth Round, 159th Overall). He began a two-year stint at University of Nebraska-Omaha (NCAA), which concluded with a move to the Gatineau Olympiques (QMJHL). Professionally, he played for the Bruins’ AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins, for two seasons, and then made various stops in the ECHL over three seasons before finishing his professional career in Russia and France.

Anthony Miller currently serves as an Assistant Coach with the Soo Jr. Greyhounds Under-14 AA. Previously, he was the Video Coach of the Soo Greyhounds of the OHL, and an Assistant Coach with various AAA and AA teams within Sault Ste. Marie. Miller’s playing experience includes stints with the St. Basils Saints (CAHS), along with three years with the Soo Thunderbirds of the NOJHL. In the 2014-15 season, Miller was named the captain of the Soo Thunderbirds, played with Team NOJHL competing at the Central Canada Cup, and most notably lead his team to a berth at the National Junior-A Championship, formerly known as the RBC Cup. Miller is a registered NOHA Referee in the Sault Ste. Marie Region.

Chris Seguin is the Head Trainer for the Espanola Express of the NOJHL. He is an HTCP Level III Trainer. He has volunteered as a Team Trainer at NOHA Development Weekend from 2016 to 2019. Last season he was the recipient the Tom Pashby Trainer of the Year Award for the NOHA. This will be Chris’s fourth season with Team NOHA.

David Losier is the Head Trainer for the Kapuskasing Flyers of the Great North Midget League, a role he has held since the 1998 season. He is an HTCP Level III Trainer and prior served as an ambulance attendant. He has been a trainer at some capacity for over 36 years, collecting a 3M Award for Safety in 1994. Two seasons ago, he was the recipient the Tom Pashby Trainer of the Year Award for the NOHA. This will be David’s Third season with Team NOHA.

Andrew Corradini is the NOHA Technical Director, a role he has held since May 2013. He is also the Video Coach of the Nipissing Lakers Men’s Varsity Hockey Team, a role he has held for two and a half seasons. Prior to this, he was an Assistant Coach/Trainer with the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves Under-18 AAA team for four seasons. This is Andrew’s second season as Director of Operations with Team NOHA.

“We are extremely pleased with the staff that we have assembled for the OHL Cup. The staff’s credentials speak for themselves, and we are sure that he will bring out the best in the players selected for Team NOHA at the OHL Cup. The NOHA would like to thank all candidates who applied for these roles” said NOHA President Claudette Myre.

Team NOHA will be made up of 2004-born players who reside within the NOHA’s boundaries and are eligible for the 2020 OHL Priority Selection. Team NOHA will be announced on March 16, 2020, the day after the GNML Championship game.

Team NOHA will compete at the 2020 OHL Cup on March 18 to 23 in Mississauga. Team NOHA’s staff will also attend the OHL Gold Cup, along with a minimum of ten players from the NOHA in the event’s new format, details of which can be found here.
