Long-Term Player Development and Age Appropriate Training in Minor Hockey


The NOHA is ecstatic that Dr. Stephen Norris will be in North Bay on Friday, November 22, 2019 to offer a very worthwhile information seminar on Long Term Player Development and Age Appropriate Training in Minor Hockey.

The information session will begin at 7:00 p.m. on November 22 and will be held in the upstairs hall at the West Ferris Arena in North Bay. The session will last approximately 90 minutes and is FREE to attend.

The presentation is open to all stakeholders of Minor Hockey – Association Members, Coaches, Trainers, Managers, Parents.

Stephen R. Norris, Ph.D.; Brief Biography

Dr. Stephen Norris is a leading performance consultant/conversationalist and applied sport scientist who is much sought after as pivotal speaker and presenter internationally. Stephen focuses upon the understanding and creation of sustainable systems and cultures aimed at performance and excellence. These are areas of attention for both sport and business endeavours as organizations move from early inspiration to continual implementation of specific processes, behaviours, and habits. Stephen has an extensive experience of physical activity, sport, and recreation from grass roots, stand-alone, initiatives through to sophisticated, long-term, elite systems and programs. Stephen is a founding member and author of Canadian Sport for Life/Sport for Life concerning athlete development and physical activity, as well as having been a primary performance consultant for the Own the Podium program in Canada during the lead-in years to the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games in 2010. Stephen is also a qualified LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Facilitator and utilizes this method in a highly customized manner to assist performance groups (corporate, sport, military) become more effective in the pursuit and achievement of their specific objectives. Stephen is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Alberta Sport Connection (the Crown agency responsible for sport in Alberta) and professionally works with Swim Alberta, the PGA of America, Golf Canada, Hockey Canada, the IIHF, and a select group of international corporations. Stephen was recently made an Honorary Director of the PGA of Canada, an award that he treasures, however, he is most proud of his two amazing teenaged ‘children’, Sam and Jenna.
