Kyle Brick Named Team NOHA Head Coach for the 2018-2019 Season
North Bay – August 2, 2018 – The Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) and the Great North Midget League (GNML) are proud to announce that Kyle Brick has been named Team NOHA’s Head Coach for the 2018-2019 Season. Brick currently serves as Head Coach and General Manager with the Blind River Beavers of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL). He has held this role for two seasons during which he has compiled a 65-39-8 record and has led the Beavers to two consecutive playoff berths, including the franchise’s first appearance in the League Finals in the 2016-2017 season. His performance while at the helm of the Beavers has resulted in numerous individual awards including NOJHL Coach of the Year (2016-2017), NOJHL First Team All-Star (2016-2017), Assistant Coach Team NOJHL (2016-2017), and Head Coach Team NOJHL (2017-2018). “I’m ecstatic that we have been able to bring Kyle on as the Head Coach of this elite group of 2003 birthdates to represent Northern Ontario. His impact in the NOJHL, his success, and his ability to make players better made him the perfect choice out of a lot of tremendously qualified Coaches that applied. We are excited to get going” said Team NOHA Director of Operations, Mark Seidel. From 2014 to 2016, Brick was an Assistant Coach with the Soo Thunderbirds of the NOJHL and helped guide the team to consecutive Dudley Hewitt Cups, as well as an RBC Cup (Junior A National Championship) appearance in 2015. “We are extremely pleased to have brought Kyle in to coach Team NOHA for the upcoming season. His accomplishments with the Beavers speak for themselves, and we are sure that he will bring out the best in the players selected for Team NOHA this season. The NOHA would like to thank all coaches that applied for this role” said NOHA President, Claudette Myre. Brick is a High Performance 1 Coach who sees himself as a great motivator of his players. He is an effective planner that knows how to determine the needs of his players through analysis and video breakdown. “I am very grateful for this opportunity with Team NOHA. Any time you get a chance to coach a team like this it’s definitely exciting. I believe we have a very deep group of talented players that I am looking forward to working with. There is no doubt that this group of kids can compete and do well at this level, the sky is the limit for this group” said Coach Brick Brick’s roles will include coaching the team at the three tournaments Team NOHA attends, assisting Seidel with the selection of the assistant coaches, and providing input on players Team NOHA throughout the 2018-2019 Season. The first task undertaken by Coach Brick will be to attend the OHF/OHL Under-15 Camp that is being hosted in Sudbury August 10 to 12, 2018 as part of NOHA Development Weekend. The schedule and rosters for this weekend are available now on the NOHA Website. Team NOHA will compete at various events in the 2018-2019 season, including the 2018 OMHA Eastern AAA Showcase in Aurora, the 2019 OHL Cup in Mississauga, and the 2019 OHL Gold Cup in Kitchener. Team NOHA will be made up of 2003-born players that are eligible for the 2019 OHL Priority Selection from across the Northeastern Ontario.
