Clinic Introduction

The Development 1 Coaching Clinic is part of the Competition Introduction Stream of the National Coach Certification Program (NCCP). It is a competency-based program designed for coaches working with players entering the competitive levels of hockey.


Coach Certification Requirements

The Development 1 Coaching Clinic is required to be taken by the following coaches:

Under-13 (Peewee) Representative and AAA (AAA to C):

  • Head Coach: Development 1 “Certified”

  • Assistant Coach: Development 1 “Trained”

Under-15 (Bantam) Representative (AA to C)

  • Head Coach: Development 1 “Certified”

  • Assistant Coach: Development 1 “Trained”

Under-15 (Bantam) AAA

  • Assistant Coach: Development 1 “Trained”

Under-18 (Midget) Representative (AA to C)

  • Head Coach: Development 1 “Certified”

  • Assistant Coach: Development 1 “Trained”

Under-18 (Midget) AAA

  • Assistant Coach: Development 1 “Trained”

Junior A

  • Assistant Coach: Development 1 “Trained”

Clinic Structure

The clinic consists of three sessions and will be delivered in an online webinar format. Clinic attendees will require a laptop with a sufficient internet connection to view the presentation, which will review interactive Clinic Modules on various topics. You will need to ensure your laptop has a microphone and a camera to ensure you can actively participate in the conversations.

The Learning Facilitator will lead the discussions and guide participants to complete tasks in breakout rooms. After the Clinic, you will be required to complete a post-task in place of the traditional ice session. The NOHA will offer ice sessions at some point this season if we can do so. These ice sessions will be optional and free of charge to participants.

In an effort to educate Associations and Coaches/Team Officials on the new Maltreatment rule, the NOHA has planned 2 sessions to be held via Zoom where we will review the new Maltreatment rule. See the links below:
